What happened was that I attended a workshop in November where I saw a friend of mine. The interesting thing was that I didn't recognize her. She looked completely different.

Being curious, I went up to her and asked, "What happened to you?"

She replied, "I had my colors done."

In that moment, I knew that whoever she had worked with was someone I needed to work with too.

As luck would have it, Natalie was standing right behind me—the answer to prayers I didn't even know I had.

Before meeting Natalie, if you had told me I would work with someone who specialized in color and fashion, I would have said, "No, that's not for me."

I had been terrified of dressing myself my entire life.

I never knew how to choose the right clothes. People would tell me what looked good, and I would listen to them, but I never listened to myself.

Most of the time, I ended up hiding inside my clothes, which is a problem when you want to be visible and allow people to see the real you.

Looking back, I think I was afraid to be seen.

The irony is that I coach people around fear and self-doubt, so it was perfectly fitting that this became part of my own healing journey.

I came to Natalie on January 2nd committed to stepping into the new year in a much bigger way, and she absolutely helped me do that.

During the process of discovering my colors, I realized something profound.

For most of my life, I felt as though I had been kidnapped at birth and dropped onto an alien planet. I never felt truly at home in my body or in my being.

When Natalie helped me discover my palette—and I should mention that she is wonderfully meticulous about this process—I began to feel more and more at home in myself.

And trust me, you want someone meticulous doing this work. You don't want someone who settles for "good enough."

As we refined my palette, I felt myself settling into my body and finally feeling at home.

I was amazed by the transformation—not only in how I looked, but in how I felt.

For the first time in my life, I felt beautiful.

That has enormous psychological implications.

When I started feeling beautiful, I started feeling safe.

I began to think:

"This is me."

"I am okay."

"I am enough."

"I am exactly as I am supposed to be."

And more than that—it wasn't just okay. It was wonderful.

People get makeovers all the time, but often they end up being transformed into someone who isn't really them. They become an idea of who society thinks they should be, and many times they end up feeling even worse.

Working with Natalie has been the exact opposite.

Every day, it gets better and better because I keep discovering more of who I truly am.

It's like opening a set of Russian nesting dolls.

Except instead of getting smaller and smaller as you go inward, the opposite happens. You begin small and continue expanding into a larger and fuller version of yourself.

Today, after working with Natalie and Teresa on my hair and makeup, I feel beautiful.

I expected that.

That part had already started happening.

What surprised me was discovering that I also look sexy.

That was not something I expected when I began this journey.

In fact, it's a risk for me to even say that out loud.

I have never publicly said, "I look sexy."

So if I can say that, anyone can.
